Bunions

Bunions are misaligned big toe joints that can become swollen and tender, causing the first joint of the big toe to slant outward, and the second joint to angle toward the other toes. Bunions tend to be hereditary, but can be aggravated by shoes that are too narrow in the forefoot and toe.

Unfortunately conservative treatment is not often helpful.  Surgery is usually needed to correct the deformity in the bone.  Fortunately Dr. Bregman can usually perform a procedure that will allow you to be on your feet in a few days without the need for crutches or a cast.  90% of all Bunion surgeries are painless after the surgery!! NEW SUTURE LASSO PROCEDURE!! for correction of Bunions:

Dr. Bregman is the first Surgeon in Massachusetts to utilize this new tecnnique for correction of Bunion deformities. No longer is it necessary to cut the bone to make an osteotomy for the correction. Thanks to a company called Arthrocare™ and the Mini-Magnum™ implant we can now correct most Bunions with this technique in a simple outpatient procedure that takes about 25 minutes. The recovery is HALF the normal time!!!You can return to full activity in 4-6 weeks in most cases!!
